In a significant stride toward a more inclusive and rights-based TB response, Tajikistan officially relaunched its National TB Caucus during a high-level event titled “TB Community Rights in Tajikistan.” The event, held in collaboration with Hon. Jamshed Murtazozoda, Co-Chair of the Global TB Caucus for the Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) region, brought together more than 35 key national stakeholders to reaffirm Tajikistan’s political commitment to ending TB.

Organised with the support of the Association for TB Prevention Cooperation in Tajikistan and Centre PAS, the event welcomed newly elected Members of Parliament into the reconstituted Caucus and set the tone for a renewed multi-sectoral response grounded in community, rights, and gender (CRG) principles.
Key Highlights from the Caucus relaunch:
Launch of the 2026–2030 Action Plan and Budget: Developed based on recent CRG assessments, the plan outlines a roadmap for eliminating legal and stigma-related barriers to accessing TB services.
Opening Remarks by Deputy Minister of Health, Mr. Abduholiq Amirzoda: He stressed the urgency of accelerating TB detection and treatment through increased investment and coordinated action.
Statements from Parliamentarians: MP Mujibahon Javhari, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Social Affairs, Family and Health, alongside fellow MPs, underscored how Tajikistan’s TB response aligns with broader national development priorities.
Leadership Transition: Mr. Murtazaqulov formally introduced the new leadership of the National TB Caucus, handing over the role of Chair to MP Naima Solezoda.
Voices from Civil Society and TB Survivors: The event was enriched by the presence of civil society leaders, TB survivors, and public figures serving as national Stop TB Ambassadors, including Noziya Karomatullo, Zaynura Pulatova, Habib Hakimov, and Daler Rahmonzoda. Their collective advocacy amplified the urgency of a people-centred response to TB.
Strategic Dialogue: Discussions centred on incorporating CRG findings into Tajikistan’s new national TB strategic plan, with emphasis on cross-sector collaboration and long-term sustainability.

This event marks a critical step toward Tajikistan’s achievement of the 2030 End TB targets. The relaunch of the National TB Caucus—with active participation from Parliament, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the National TB Center, and Tajik Association of Phthisiopulmonologists—signals strengthened political will to tackle TB with a whole-of-society approach.
As the Global TB Caucus continues to support parliamentary leadership worldwide, Tajikistan’s example stands out as a model for integrating community-led assessments, survivor voices, and political commitment into national planning.
