EECA heads of national caucuses gather online for the second time

On June 11th, EECA heads of national caucuses gathered on-line for the second time to discuss issues related to TB and COVID. Participants, members of parliaments from Ukraine, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakstan, Uzbekistan and Georgia discussed the last updates from their countries since the first regional meeting and shared the challenges they currently face as well as their experience in tackling COVID-19 and protecting TB patients' rights.

By the end of the meeting all participants voted for the need to adopt a regional EECA resolution on TB and COVID-19. Such document will be based on the Statement of Intent adopted by the Executive Committee earlier in the month and, in particular, it will contain the position of MPs on the need to strengthen control over compliance with funding for TB programs and to ensure the rights of people affected by TB in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
