An international conference in Almaty, Kazakhstan, brought together experts and national TB programme representatives from Central Asia and beyond to explore advances in TB diagnosis, treatment and care. Discussions focused on expanding access to shorter treatment regimens, strengthening health systems and exploring the possibility of reducing treatment for active TB to just one month in the future. Building on the commitments made at the 2025 Regional Parliamentary TB Summit in Almaty, the conference reinforced the importance of sustained political leadership, investment and regional cooperation in accelerating progress towards ending TB.
