As part of the Global TB Caucus’ ongoing efforts to foster multisectoral engagement in tuberculosis (TB) response, three significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were recently signed in Tajikistan. These agreements formalize collaboration between the Stop TB Partnership Association of Tajikistan—the national focal point of the Global TB Caucus—and leading professional organizations across the legal, medical, and psychosocial sectors.

Forging Strategic Partnerships

The MoUs were signed with the following national partners:

  • N.Kh. Huvaidulloev Young Lawyers Association

  • Association of Phthisiologists and Pulmonologists of Tajikistan

  • Society of Psychological Counselors and Therapists of Tajikistan

These partnerships mark a major step toward aligning TB response efforts across key sectors, strengthening the country’s ability to provide comprehensive, people-centred care.

Parliamentary Leadership at the Forefront

The initiative was led by Jamshed Murtazakulov, Head of the National TB Caucus of Tajikistan, who played a dual role by signing the MoUs in his capacity as Chair of the Young Lawyers Association. His leadership underscores the power of parliamentary action in catalyzing national, cross-sectoral collaboration on TB.

Advancing a Whole-of-Society Response

These MoUs are more than symbolic. They pave the way for coordinated, sustained efforts to:

  • Expand access to legal and psychological counselling for people affected by TB

  • Support community-based TB monitoring through the OneImpact Tajikistan digital platform

  • Address and reduce stigma associated with TB

  • Improve diagnosis, outreach, and treatment through medical partnerships

This development exemplifies the Caucus’ mission: to drive high-level political engagement that translates into tangible change. By bringing together legal experts, healthcare professionals, and psychosocial support providers, Tajikistan is setting a strong example for how a whole-of-society approach can strengthen national TB responses.

Looking Ahead

With the World Health Organization and global partners calling for multisectoral accountability and action in the lead-up to 2030, Tajikistan’s National TB Caucus has demonstrated that meaningful partnerships, rooted in political will, are both possible and powerful.

The Global TB Caucus celebrates this milestone as a testament to the impact of parliamentarian-led action and will continue to support such collaborative efforts around the world.
