The Global TB Caucus extends its heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Kim Minseok, Asia Pacific Co-Chair and Chair of the South Korea TB Caucus, on his appointment as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea.

This historic appointment, announced by President Lee Jae-myung on 4 June 2025, reflects Hon. Kim’s unwavering dedication to public service and visionary leadership in both national governance and global health. As a four-term lawmaker and a long-standing champion of people-centered policies, Hon. Kim brings deep experience in economic development, political unity, and international cooperation to his new role.
His elevation to Prime Minister marks a moment of pride for the Global TB Caucus community. As Chair of the National TB Caucus in South Korea and Co-Chair of the Asia Pacific Region, Hon. Kim has played a pivotal role in advocating for a multisectoral, rights-based approach to ending tuberculosis. Under his leadership, the South Korea TB Caucus has been a model for regional collaboration and political commitment to tackling TB as both a health and social justice issue.
Hon. Kim has consistently demonstrated that the fight against TB is a matter of equity, dignity, and political will. His ability to elevate TB on the parliamentary agenda—both in Korea and globally—has helped reinforce the importance of parliamentarians as key actors in national and international health responses.
A Champion of Multilateralism and Multisectoral Action
The Global TB Caucus celebrates Hon. Kim’s appointment not only as a national milestone, but as a symbol of what is possible when political leaders integrate public health and inclusive development into their broader governance vision. As Prime Minister, we trust he will continue to advocate for international solidarity, invest in resilient health systems, and uplift vulnerable populations—values that are central to our movement.

We look forward to continued collaboration with Hon. Kim in his new capacity, and remain committed to working together to end TB for good—in South Korea, across Asia Pacific, and around the world.
Congratulations, Prime Minister Kim!
